The Sartorial Sleuth Peeks into The Carrie Diaries

Girls just wanna have fun. Last week, season two of The Carrie Diaries premiered and we found out how Samantha Jones first came into Carrie's life. Set in 1985, this Sex And The City prequel will show us how Samantha's signature sex kitten style began. In New York—that concrete jungle where dreams are made of—Kim Cattrall mini-me Lindsey Gort struts animal print and attitude, thanks to costume designer Eric Daman. Want to make like Ms. Jones? Straight-outta the '80s acid wash and rocker tees rule the racks at Iguana Clothing. Fast fashion chain Love Culture is dripping in leopard and lace, and you can shop without dropping a lot of money at both stores, thanks to prices lower than Samantha’s plunging neckline. We'll dress you up in our slideshow.

With over 10 years of costume designing under her belt, Alexis Steinman has shopped this town inside and out. Working on prominent shows ("Weeds", "CSI") and outfitting an array of celebs (Jenna Elfman, Anne Hathaway, Sir Richard Branson), this industry insider will be sharing her cinema secrets with us weekly.
