The Sartorial Sleuth Saddles Up With The Lone Ranger

Just in time for the holiday weekend, The Lone Ranger is riding into theaters July 3rd.  In Disney’s amped up remake of the Old West classic, Johnny Depp gives new meaning to “put a bird on it” with his unique crow headdress. Want more wearable ways to put some country in your wardrobe? If the Lone Ranger needed new duds, here’s where Tonto would take him.

L.A.‘s only Western outfitter, the Country General Store, is worth the trip to the Wild Wild West (aka Van Nuys). Stocked with classic brands--Lucchese boots, Stetson hats, Wrangler jeans--this is the go-to shop for cowboys to costume designers.  Want your boots broken-in? American Vintage has well-worn duds for vintage-lovers. Frontier fashionistas should mosey over to Ralph Lauren for  their cowboy cool line, RRL.

Click on the slideshow to unmask our Western finds about town.  Hi-ho, silver, away we go a-shopping.

With over 10 years of costume designing under her belt, Alexis Steinman has shopped this town inside and out. Working on prominent shows ("Weeds", "CSI") and outfitting an array of celebs (Jenna Elfman, Anne Hathaway, Sir Richard Branson), this industry insider will be sharing her cinema secrets with us weekly.
