The Sartorial Sleuth Finds The Way Way Back

If you're looking for something to do this weekend check out The Way Way Back,  the L.A. Film Festival’s closer this Sunday. Set in a seaside vacation town, this hilarious comedy will have you hankering for some beach time. Before you bust out your old bikini, we've found the best spots to score new swimwear and nautical looks, inspired by the film’s East Coast locale.

Mohawk General Store offers some East Coast flavor on the East Side. It's a hub for heritage brands like Edith A. Miller and M.nii. At Steven Alan, their easy-breezy designs and swimwear collabs will keep you classy at the beach and beyond. One of the original purveyors of prep, Land’s End, is now sold at Sears. A BBQ grill and a bathing suit in the same store: now that’s one-stop shopping.

To ring in the first day of summer, click through on our slideshow for coastal looks. Like the Beach Boys crooned— "East coast girls are hip." They really dug those styles they wore.

With over 10 years of costume designing under her belt, Alexis Steinman has shopped this town inside and out. Working on prominent shows ("Weeds", "CSI") and outfitting an array of celebs (Jenna Elfman, Anne Hathaway, Sir Richard Branson), this industry insider will be sharing her cinema secrets with us weekly.
