Ready For This Jelly?

They’re baaack! The jelly-shoe craze of the ‘80s returns—check out our director’s cut slideshow featuring dozens of styles in stores now

The Jelly shoe craze of the ’80s is back, and this time it’s jiggling from the street to the runway. That’s due in part to the collaboration of designers like Vivienne Westwood, and most recently, Jason Wu and Karl Lagerfeld, with the Brazilian footwear company Melissa. Over the years Melissa has transformed jellies into comfy—and sexy—peep-toe wedges and platform heels that have gained a cult following among the stylish, nostalgia-craving set. More than a dozen luxury brands feature the squishy shoes (flats, pumps, sandals) in their current collections. To make our case that jellies are back in a big way, click through the epic slideshow above. One thing’s certain: This summer you’ll be clicking your PVC heels again.

What they don't tell you is in the summer the plastic makes your feet crazy sweaty and stinky. The plastic absorbs the foot odor so the shoes end up reeking. And you get blisters too. Wore them back then and they can stay there.
