Fashion Is A Trip

Ever wonder what the story is behind designers creating collections inspired by Russian czarinas, Japanese kimonos and Indian flower markets? American Fashion Travel: Designers on the Go gives readers a glimpse into different fashion designers’ quests for inspiration while globetrotting. Assembled by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, the book reads like a travel scrapbook full of 90-plus designers’ favorite destinations, travel memories and keepsakes, tips and personal photos.

There’s no shortage of L.A. designers featured. We learn that Trina Turk is not a fan of snow and chooses jewelry as a souvenir and that Lubov Azria loves Tokyo and has a collection of rocks from around the world.

A “Fashionable Address Book” in the back makes shout-outs to Abbot Kinney, Rodeo Drive, Opening Ceremony and the Rose Bowl Flea Market as stops for travelers to shop or seek inspiration. It’s definitely a fun read for those of us bitten by both the fashion and travel bug — expect find yourself with a major case of the wanderlusts.
