Queasy From Anne and Michelle's Pepto Dresses? Celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness in These Pink Picks

Fashion blogs are buzzing about the “pepto-pink” ensembles worn by first lady Michelle Obama and running opposition Ann Romney at last night’s Town Hall Debate. In fact, the hashtag #whoworeitbetter was extremely popular on Twitter, appearing hundreds of times alongside other hashtags like #thatawkwardmoment and #fashionpolice (click here to see). We feel that even though breast cancer survivor Ann Romney’s fashion sense has been increasingly becoming of a first lady, Michelle Obama’s same-color crop jacket and single strand of pearls presented a cleaner look than Ann’s busy brocade jacket and turquoise beads.

For those of you who were neither impressed nor inspired by their outfit choices, here are some breast cancer- (and fashion!) aware pieces to consider:

Forty percent of the proceeds will be donated to Camp Kesem, where according to Vanessa, “children who have been affected by their parent’s breast cancer…[get] the opportunity to just be kids.”

H&M’s Perfect Pink Products

For its seventh year in collaboration with the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative, Swedish brand Hennes and Mauritz has designed its own pink products. These include a pink studded collar blouse (left), a glove & scarf set, and a smartphone case starting at only $5.95. Twenty-five percent of the proceeds will be donated to cancer research, awareness, and patient services.

Kelly Wearstler Motorcycle Jacket

Local designer Kelly Wearstler has resissued her signature lambskin leather jacket in pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It has already been spotted on celebrities like Mandy Moore and Gwen Stefani. Ten percent of the purchase, available exclusively at the Kelly Wearstler Melrose Flagship store or online, will go directly to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
