ON TRIAL: Show Beauty Hair Fragrance
It’s the reason women shop so hard for those pretty smelling shampoos and conditioners, holding dear to that vain hope that the product will leave our flounces scented with the lasting sweetness of subtle roses: hair that smells good feels good.
Sure, hair mists have been around for some time now, but most are hardly more than diluted, boozy versions of perfume. And don’t even think about using any garish or girly Eau de Toilette on your hair, as mainstream perfumes have ingredients that can react with sunlight and leave your locks damaged.
Supermodel/founder of SHOW Beauty Tamara Ecclestone noticed this hole in the beauty market and promptly partnered with Michael Carby from Givaudan to create a special hair fragrance that treats and scents at the same time. If anyone knows how beautiful hair should smell, it’s a hot model. And, if anyone can translate that desire into a daily wearable scent, it’s a 20-year scent industry veteran.
The result of their collaboration—Decadence Hair Fragrance ($60)— is part of a larger 11-piece collection consisting of styling and finishing products designed to provide superior volumizing benefits, and it comes in as pretty a bottle as any French import. Based on rose water, a few spritzes scents your tresses with soft notes of candied caramel, vanilla, and a crisp white musk. The result? A feminine smell that lasts until your next wash. As an added bonus, the hair fragrance has Jojoba and Aloe Vera to treat sun-fried strands and ends. My post-test tip: try a light shot of the hair fragrance into your bristles and brush through or spritz sparingly on dry hair from a few inches away.
