Celebs Go All in For the 99%

Hollywood stars and music legends lent their voices to feed children in Africa, rocked stages to help farmers, and raised money for the victims of natural disasters. This Saturday, March 31, over 100 performers, writers, and activists will come together for the average Joes of America with an entire day of scheduled happenings, free and open to the public. Their mission is to “create a national conversation around income inequality and campaign finance reform.”

All in for the 99%” is sponsored by Rebuild the Dream, MoveOn.org, Courage Campaign, and the SEUI— along with a host committee made up of big names—Edward Norton, Russell Simmons, Marisa Tomei, Val Kilmer, Aimee Mann, Van Jones, L.A. mayoral candidate Eric Garcetti and many, many more.’’The day’s events include: Curated DJ sets by The Embassy; Funny or Die short film screenings; activist training; SLAKE magazine readings (Val Kilmer performs as Mark Twain; Erin Aubry Kaplan; Sam Slovick and others). And, on display, the works of more than 80 artists (Shepard Fairey, Jill Greenberg, Craig Stecyk, Ted Soqui, Sandow Birk). Check out the group’ s facebook page (“R.E.M. likes this”) for a complete list of attendees and schedule information.
