Yxta Cocina Mexicana Celebrates Five Years — 2/26
The restaurant is marking its anniversary with half off on food until 9:30 p.m., tequila tastings and free small bites from 9:30 p.m. until 11 p.m.; and a DJ, photo booth, and drink specials all night. More information. 

Scotch Tasting at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery — 2/28
Arts and spirits aficionados are invited to a conversation with German artist Manfred Muller and a scotch tasting curated by Silverlake Wine. The tasting begins at 5:30 p.m.; the talk follows at 7 p.m. Barnsdall Art Park Foundation members get in free; general admission is $40. More information. 

Café del Rey Honors American Heart Health Month — 2/27
The restaurant hosts its annual Rockin’ the Red Bar II, a competition among Marina restaurants for the best red-hued vodka cocktail. Guests vote for their favorite while sampling Mediterranean hors d’oeuvres from executive chef Chuck Abair of Café del Rey. Event proceeds are donated to the American Heart Association to raise awareness for American Heart Health Month. Tickets are $40 per person. More information. 

Magnolia Bakery’s Annual Oscar Cupcake is Back — 3/2
The bakery is sweet on the Academy Awards once again, with cupcakes decorated to salute Best Picture nominees like The Wolf of Wall Street and American Hustle. Boxes are $60 and include twelve cupcakes. For those celebrating solo, consider the Black Tie cupcake for $3.50. More information.
