Win a Bar Tab (and a Bartender!) at the Spare Room’s Boxing Day Social
Charity fundraising event in Hollywood with great drinks and great prizes
After all that selfless shopping and gift giving, you’ll probably be jonesin’ to finally do something for yourself, no? Why not try and win a date with your favorite bartender, drinks on them? For the 2nd Annual Boxing Day Social at Hollywood Roosevelt’s bowling alley/cocktail lounge The Spare Room on December 26, beverage director Naomi Schimek has pulled together a group of highly desirable L.A. bartenders to auction off with proceeds going to the Hospitality Kitchen, which aids the homeless in downtown L.A. And it’s not just a charming bartender you’ll win but a $100 bar tab at an L.A. craft cocktail bar.
Who’s up for grabs (but not for grabbing!):
- Kiowa Bryan from Eveleigh
- Paul Sanguinetti from Ray’s and Stark Bar
- Josh Lucas from The Writer’s Room
- Zahra Bates from Cole’s Red Car Bar
Since the rule is that bartenders can’t drink at their own bars, you’d win the bartender and one of the participating bars randomly picked from a hat.
Bigger bar tabs on the auction block include a tequila drinking date with Jaymee Mandeville (Drago Centro) and Cari Hah (Neat) at Las Perlas downtown, or your own private pub crawl with Marcos Tello courtesy of Bols Genever.
$15, or a donation of blankets, coats, or sleeping bags—which will be handed out to the homeless on Skid Row—will get you bottomless cocktails and cocktail punches, entry into a Roshambo tournament for prizes, and live music by Hobo Jazz. (Last year’s Boxing Day Social event raised $2,000 for Hospitality Kitchen!)
One of the featured cocktail punches is “It’s the End of the World as We Know it, and I Feel Fine,” made with Ilegal Mezcal, yellow Chartreuse, yerba maté tea, cactus fruit syrup, fresh citrus, and sage. Another is “Luna Lovegood,” made with Edinburgh gin, green Chartreuse, white tea, forelle pear syrup, fresh lemon, and grapefruit.
Boxing Day Social, Wednesday, Dec 26, 7 to 11 p.m.
