This Just In: Scopa Italian Roots Set to Open on November 14
Details on the highly anticipated project from dream team chef Antonia Lofaso and barmen Steve Livigni and Pablo Moix.
We started hearing rumors about a new bar and restaurant from triple threat chef Antonia Lofaso and barmen Steve Livigni and Pablo Moix way back in February. There was talk that it would be another Black Market Liquor Bar, but this news went unconfirmed. At an event this summer, someone whispered something about Abbot Kinney. We knew that the adjacent bar, Old Lightning, was to be very serious. And now, finally, details on Scopa Italian Roots.
Venice’s newest Italian restaurant comes from partners Mario Guddemi and Salvatore Aurora (Black Market, Local Peasant), chef Antonia Lofaso, and hospitality team Pablo Moix and Steve Livigni. The name seems to come from a popular Italian card game. Located near the corner of Abbot Kinney and Washington Boulevard, the 3,500 sq. foot space is a restaurant from Lofaso’s heart; her menu was inspired by the cuisine of her Italian upbringing.
Pablo Moix is heading up the bar program here along with Daniel McClary, formerly of Westside Tavern. Ashley Ragovin, who also worked with Animal and Trois Mec, has curated a mostly Italian wine list with over 20 wines by the glass and 100 by the bottle. Steve Livigni will serve as the restaurant’s general manager. Set to open on Thursday, November 14, Scopa Italian Roots will be open nightly from 5 p.m. until 2 a.m. and is now taking reservations.
