Recipe: Creamy Matcha Ice-Blended

The American Tea Room shares its antioxidant-rich summer sipper

In sunny L.A., every month could be Iced Tea Month. But the powers that be have chosen June to honor the brisk caffeine hit, and it just so happens that the American Tea Room recently announced its plans for a new Arts District location as well as the renovation of its flagship Beverly Hills store. To celebrate the news—as well as National Iced Tea Month—the Beverly Hills branch will be serving free (!) samples of its signature teas every Saturday as part of its “Super Saturday Sipdown.” On tap this Saturday is the 4 Green Matcha Blaster, a mix of the American Tea Room’s freshly ground organic matcha, avocado, cucumber, mint, and non-fat Greek yogurt. It’s an energizing way to slurp up a slew of antioxidants and cool down on a hot day. Pick up some of the shop’s organic matcha powder and mix up your own chilly cup any ol’ time. The more tea the merrier, right?

The American Tea Room’s 4 Green Matcha Blaster

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon ceremonial organic matcha
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup avocado sliced
  • 1/4 cup medium cucumber peeled
  • 1 scoop non-fat Greek yogurt
  • 2 sprigs mint
  • 2 teaspoons agave
  • 1/2 ounce Peppermint syrup
  • 6 ounces ice
  • Raspberry or other fruit garnish
  • Reserve one mint sprig for decoration

Instructions

  1. Blend at medium speed for 40 seconds
  2. Add garnish and serve immediately
