Scopa Italian Roots

The team that brought Black Market Liquor Bar to the Valley is behind this bustling, brick-walled dining hall in Venice that’s become a night owl hangout. Former Top Chef contestant Antonia Lofaso draws from her Italian-American heritage, offering gooey riffs on the meatball hero and massive ricotta-stuffed arancini. Skip the drab pastas and spread almond-dusted eggplant caponata or whipped ricotta onto grilled ciabatta slices instead. The main event, though, might be Pablo Moix and Steve Livigni’s elegant stirred cocktails, which make use of sharply flavored aperitifs and spirits ranging from rhum agricole to mescal.  » 2905 Washington Blvd., 310-821-1100 or scopaitalianroots.com.
