[Pasadena]

The Spanish shareables served at Old Pasadena’s striking new arrival further blur the line between small plates and tapas. Juicy chicken and ham croquettes come with a goat cheese mousse, salt cod fritters are as light as popcorn and dusted with lemon zest, and a quail egg tops a pile of squid ink pasta. Co-owners Loretta Peng and Teresa Montaño (who’s also the chef) helped launch the Border Grill truck, but we can’t envision them pulling off the paella deconstruida—two giant prawns, lobster-infused rice, and a tableside pour of bouillabaisse broth—on wheels. » 119 W.
