Sawtelle may soon be known as much for great burgers as for impeccable sushi. With Ernesto Uchimura, ex-corporate chef at Umami Burger, manning the grill and mixology duo Steve Livigni and Pablo Moix masterminding the bar, Plan Check strives to be an all-American hang. It succeeds. Sporting a retro wink are dishes such as spicy baked crab dip, short rib pot roast, and fried jidori chicken with “smoked milk” gravy.
