Stanley Kubrick Retrospective Dinner at LACMA Café – 6/29
As LACMA’s Stanley Kubrick exhibit comes to a close, the museum will host a four-course dinner to celebrate the exhibition as part of the RED Pop Up Series. The prix-fixe dinner, offered between a double feature of Belle de Jour and Eyes Wide Shut, will feature dishes drawing on specific pieces from the exhibit. The $40 meal can be reserved as a package with the movie screenings, or alone. More information.
The L.A. Street Food Fest – 6/29
Some of the West Coast’s finest street food slingers are gathering at the Rose Bowl once again. Among this year’s highlights are Tijuana celebrity chef Javier Plascencia’s Erizo, the new Indian gastropub Badmaash, the debut of the Beignet Truck, Dante’s fabulous fried chicken, and more. An ice cream social and Caroline on Crack-approved cocktails from Pablo Moix and Steve Livigni round out the festivities. Tickets ($75 VIP, $50 general admission) are available online. Fourth Annual Taste at the Grove – 6/29
Arguably L.A.’s most famous shopping mall, the Grove celebrates its dining destinations on Saturday. During the day, the public can watch a series of cooking demonstrations. Later on a number of the Grove’s eateries will be offering special prix-fixe “Taste” dinners, with proceeds going to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. More information.
Homebrew Demo at Eagle Rock Brewery – 6/29
Whether you’re curious about making your own beer or just looking for new recipes to add to your repertoire, you’re sure to learn something new at the demo by Eagle Rock Brewery’s brewmaster Jeremy Raub this Saturday. All Beachwood All Day at Beachwood BBQ & Brewing – 6/29
To commemorate Beachwood Brewing’s second anniversary, brewer Julian Shrago is pulling out more than 25 Beachwood Brewing beers from the archives, including Mocha Machine, Mrs. Stoutfire, and an anniversary Double IPA, Dank Matter. Executive chef and owner Gabe Gordon will be pairing classic ’cue dishes with the brews on tap. More information.
Lobster and Clam Bake at Tavern – 6/30
Enjoy a New England-inspired dinner this Sunday at Tavern’s Second Annual Lobster and Clam Bake. The $65 menu includes all of the classics: lobster, clams, chowder, sides, and dessert. Reservations required. More information.
Canada Day at Mohawk Bend – 7/1
Just three days before our own Independence Day, our neighbors to the north celebrate Canada Day. To celebrate the country’s birthday, Mohawk Bend will feature beers from Unibroue, a Quebec-based brewery that specializes in Belgian-style brews. Individual beers will be available for $6.50, or as a flight for $12. More information.
The Veggie-Lovers Sriracha Cookbook Release Party at Golden Road – 7/2
Golden Road Brewing will host the official release party of Los Angeles magazine contributor Randy Clemens’ latest book, The Veggie-Lovers Sriracha Cookbook, next Tuesday. The party will feature dishes from the book, such as edamame-Sriracha succotash and burning Thai bruschetta. A list of suggested Golden Road beer pairings and even a Sriracha-infused dessert will also be offered. More information.
