Downtown Food Scavenger Hunt — 1/4
Bounce from Chinatown to Olvera Street with your digital camera to catch the sights, sounds, and flavors of downtown L.A. Watson Adventures hosts the hunt, which starts at noon at Union Station. $22 per person plus $10 for food. More information.

Learn how to make these homey French sandwiches from scratch. Students will get hands-on instruction in bread-making, and learn how to make fresh ricotta, home-made Nutella, and other condiments perfect for a sweet or savory tartine. The five hour class is $175 per person. More information.

Pig Roast at Bludso’s on La Brea — 1/6
Mid-City’s favorite barbecue joint is roasting a whole pig and—get this—giving every tender morsel away for free. First come, first served. Doors open at 5 p.m. Bludso’s regular menu will also be on offer. Get in on the drink specials: $3 beers and $5 Texas margaritas. More information.

Awards’ Season Cocktails at The Montage Beverly Hills — 1/6 – 1/31
Parq Bar celebrates the big screen with cocktails inspired by some of last year’s biggest hits. “Buying Time” (Reposado Tequila, Regan’s Orange Bitters, St. Germain Elderflower, lemon oil) is inspired by Dallas Buyers Club and named after the first article written in 1992 telling the story of Ron Woodruff. “Belfort’s Boiler Room” (Old Raj Gin, Maraschino Liqueur, fresh lemon juice, orange bitters) is an adaptation of the classic gin martini that Jordan Belfort might have enjoyed in Wolf of Wall Street. Cocktails are $17 each.
