First Look: Santa Monica’s New, Massive 800 Degrees Pizza
Turning the heat up on the Westside
The corner of Wilshire and 2nd in Santa Monica is about to get 800 Degrees hotter. Next Tuesday, January 21 operator Adam Fleischman, chef Anthony Carron, and partners open the third location of their popular build-your-own Neapolitan-style pizza concept. 800 Degrees Santa Monica is opening just a couple of months after 800 Degrees opened a location inside LAX’s Tom Bradley terminal, and almost exactly a year after the original location opened in Westwood Village. It’s another Fleischman concept that’s turning to gold.
Santa Monica’s newest pizza parlor is far larger than its sister locations with 120 seats, a private dining room, and adjacent to-go area with a separate entrance and separate oven. The pizza bar here is a staggering 30 feet long, and ends in the signature, stone ovens that blister pies in less than a minute. A copper tin ceiling curves over the space and is punctuated by an Italian glass chandelier. Beautiful white and silver marble softens the deep burgundy banquettes and dark woods.
When it opens next Tuesday, 800 Degrees Santa Monica will serve the same menu of Anthony Carron's Northern Italian nibbles. The chef's daily specials will grace chalkboards above the counter—we're looking forward to seeing what Carron does with the produce from Santa Monica's nearby farmers' market. A menu of beer and wine will be available for purchase early next month.
800 Degrees is one of the only restuarants in the area with its own private 90-spot parking lot. Parking is free for one hour with validation.
Next up is 800 Degrees Downtown, and the group hopes to soon open locations in Hollywood, Las Vegas, and New York.
