Get Gooey Sticky Buns, Caffe Luxxe Coffee, and More at Sweet Rose Creamery on Beverly

The ice cream chainlet expands offerings to include coffee and pastries

Bless Zoe Nathan and Josh Loeb. Along with pastry chef and ice cream genius Shiho Yoshikawa, they've been churning creamy novelites out of Sweet Rose Creamery at the Brentwood Country Mart for the past few years. Even as their Santa Monica-based restaurant empire continues to grow—Milo & Olive, Huckleberry, and Rustic Canyon are about to get a sister restaurant thanks to a partnership with Bryant and Kim Ng—they're still finding time to spread the sweet gospel. Just a few weeks after opening a second Sweet Rose on Pico in Santa Monica (which will serve as the group's commissary and production facility), the team launches a third: Sweet Rose Creamery on Beverly in Mid-City/Beverly Grove opens today.

Los Angeles-based Montalba Architects outfitted the 1,000-square-foot shop with black steel, fresh plywood, and minimalist pendant light fixtures. A friend of the chef, Kris Chau, painted a floral mural on the wall adjacent to the entrance, giving the space a homey feel.

Not only can you order a cone farmers' market inspired ice cream here, but a fine assortment of Milo & Olive's pastries are also on offer.  A chalkboard lists the day's flavors, made fresh each morning, and as at the other two locations, the new Sweet Rose Creamery offers a fine variety of toppings, from brownie bits to marshmallows—all housemade. Thanks to a partnership wtih Caffe Luxxe, the ice cream parlor doubles as a serious coffee shop too.

The pastry area glows. Find walnut studded sticky buns, dainty apple turnovers, crisp individual quiches, and buttery croissants next to the espresso machine. Could brioche buns, easily stuffed with scoops of ice cream, make an appearance? We can only hope.

Sweet Rose Creamery on Beverly opens today and will serve from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
