"Food Is Art" Dinner Installation at the Farmer's Kitchen — 1/19 - 20
It's all about color at chef Nyesha Arrington's artful dinner, where each of four courses focuses on a single slice of the spectrum, from green nettles and pistachios in one dish to orange calamari, tangerines, and habañero chilis in another. Proceeds go to the Sustainable Economic Enterprises of Los Angeles (SEE-LA), which benefits local farmer's markets. Tickets are $65 per person; $85 gets you a seat at the chef's table. Benefit Dinner for Food Writer Max Jacobson — 1/19
An impressive line up of chefs are gathering together in Las Vegas this Sunday to host and cook a benefit dinner for former Los Angeles Times critic and current food writer Max Jacobson. Jacobson, a contributing editor for Vegas Seven, was badly injured late last month when he was hit by a car while crossing the street. He is still in a coma. Chefs Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken, Thomas Keller, Bradley Ogden, and many others will cook a $1,000 multi-course blow out meal—one, it must be said, that Max himself, a lover of delicious excess, would have enjoyed. More than 300 L.A. restaurants are offering discounted prix fixe lunches and dinners for the duration of the dineLA restaurant week that starts Monday. For the first time, guests can check out six of L.A.'s finer dining institutions.
