Be Fruitful & Multiply: Two of L.A.'s Hottest Restaurant Concepts Expand
Umami Burger and sugarFISH sushi announce new locations
Another day, another Umami Burger location. This time, the chain that has burger fans in a tizzy is getting ready to open a new location in downtown's Arts District. Umami Restaurant Group has taken over the space formerly housing District BBQ on East Third Street. A release says that the restaurant will have an industrial feel; Westin Mitchell Design group has been tapped to design the furniture. The 60 seat space includes a rear courtyard. It's likely to open this summer. Umami Burger, 738 E. Third St., Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, Kazunori Nozawa continues to expand his sugarFISH concept into sushi loving neighborhoods throughout the city. Now that sugarFISH is settled in Beverly Hills, La Brea is the next target for this casual, quality-driven chain. Mid-City has a smallish sugarFISH coming. Near Sycamore Kitchen, between 1st and 2nd Streets, the newest sugarFISH location will contain 45 seats and offer lunch and dinner service daily. An opening date has not yet been set. sugarFISH sushi, 101 S. La Brea Ave., Los Angeles.
