King For The Day: A Sweet Way to Begin Your Year
Bouchon Bakery Beverly Hills unveils a traditional Galette des Rois next month.
We ring in the New Year with resolutions, but the French do it with pastry. Epiphany, which falls on January 6, is honored with Galette des Rois, or “Kings’ Cake,” a puff pastry with a velvety almond filling. Find the fève, or figurine, inside and you’ll be crowned “king” for the day. From January 4 until January 31, Bouchon Bakery will be offering eight-inch almond, pistachio, and apple varieties ($30 each).
