What: "Tell me what you eat, and I will tell you what you are," wrote, famously, French anthropologist Claude Lévi-Strauss. And so now that we've established the importance of California Cuisine, let's dig deeper and consider what Los Angeles is, based on what it eats. KCRW Good Food host Evan Kleiman moderates "The State of L.A.'s Plate," a panel discussion about L.A.'s eating habits (from In-n-Out burgers to kale smoothies). Expect to hear perspectives from former Bon Appetit editor Barbara Fairchild, “The Glutster," blogger Javier Cabral, and UCLA Center for Population Health and Health Disparities epidemiologist Alex Ortega.
The event, free and open to the public, is being put on by the fine folks at Zócalo Public Square.
When: Monday, November 18, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Peterson Auto Museum, 6060 Wilshire Blvd., Miracle Mile.
How: The event is free and open to the public. RSVP online. Parking is $8 inside the museum.
