Coming Soon: EightyTwo, Faith & Flower, and Bo Nuage
A new game bar, an eatery that pays homage to L.A. history, and a cloud cake specialty shop are in the works.
Arts District: Not far from the forthcoming fifty seven comes a new arcade and bar set up called EightyTwo. Local residents Scott Davids and Noah Sutcliffe are behind this venture; architect Darin Johnstone is building out the storefront. Get ready to play classic games—curated by pinball queen Molly Atkinson—from the '60s to the '90s: Space Invaders, Centipede, Streetfighter II, Pole Position, and Pacman are all on the docket. The full bar and outdoor garden patio will open later this year. » 718 E. Third St., Downtown, eightytwola.com.
Downtown: Inside the WaterMarke Tower on the corner of 9th and Flower (formerly the home of Towne Food & Drink) comes a new restaurant called Faith & Flower. Courtesy of the pair behind Pebble Beach Food & Wine and Los Angeles Food & Wine, David Bernahl and Rob Weakley, Faith & Flower is an homage to L.A.'s past—once upon a time, Flower Street was called Faith. The original opening date was slated for late fall 2013. Once open, expect modern farm-focused dishes and classic cocktails. » 705 W. 9th St., Downtown, faithandflowerla.com.
Melrose: Get your sweet tooth out: Bo Nuage, a pastry shop specializing in French cloud (nuage, en français) cakes, will open on Melrose on Friday, November 15. The bite-sized cakes are made from layers of crunchy and chewy meringue covered in whipped cream and topped with shards of white chocolate. Expect a dozen flavors from creator Pascal Achcar, including pistachio, Nutella, and chocolate mint. » 8010 Melrose Ave., Melrose, 310-880-2065, bonuage.com.
