Rumors were floating around Friday that Henry's Tacos—the beloved North Hollywood taco stand that was forced to close earlier this year—had found a new location.
Third-generation owner Janis Hood confirmed the details via Facebook, saying that Henry's Tacos would indeed reopen, mere feet from its original home, as news came that nearby Studio Sub would be closing today. Janis is working with Omar Vega—who has worked at Henry's Tacos for 21 years—to secure the new space before she transfers ownership to him and his brother Gil. She explains:
"[T]he owners of Studio Sub were nice enough to think of Henry's when they made the difficult decision to close. Omar and I are grateful to them. Keep your fingers crossed for Omar, that we may be eating Henry's again very soon!"
No details yet on how soon folks will be able to once again get their fix of gringo tacos topped with yellow cheese and red sauce or the enigmatic crunchy tostado, but they hope to be up and running as soon as mid-March.
