In honor of the 10th season of Bravo’s beloved cooking competition show—and the continual stream of L.A. restaurants spawned by its contestants—we shall, every week, outline the 10 (get it?) things we learned from watching each episode. Last night’s episode of Top Chef Seattle taught us plenty. Here, our top 10 learnable moments:
10. CJ does a really good Tom impression
Too bad CJ’s version of Tom also gives really bad advice.
9. Rose petal jelly tastes like “eating somebody’s grandmother,” according to Hugh
Watch out Mee-maw! (He’s also kind of right.)
8. Padma loves cheese
Like, LOVES it. Favorite soundbite of the night, by far. Sorry, Micah—your meagre plate of cheese curds can’t satisfy her lust for lactose.
7. Truffle popcorn is still a thing
Really Top Chef? You pick truffle-oil-drenched popcorn as one of your “artisanal” products? We're pretty sure truffle-flavored stuff was banned from the civilized food in 2007.
6. Ricotta pancake + stick = no
Duh.
5. Tyler has never watched reality TV before
“So, Carla’s here one day, gone the next. Kuniko is here one day, gone the next. Like, tomorrow, I could be gone!” Hi, Tyler—nice to meet you. By the way you’re on Top Chef.
4. Stefan is 40
Ois guade winsch i dia zum Gbuadsdog!!!
3. All of the singing featured in Les Misérables was recorded live
Wow, an entire commercial break dedicated to a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming Les Mis movie? Ka-ching! And it is Bravo, after all. (And we did cry a little—OK, a lot.)
2. Kuniko still has a shot
Yagi won the most recent Last Chance Kitchen, woo hoo! There’s hope for her yet.
1. Eliza probably smokes pot
“I used to follow Widepsread Panic around the country selling vegan sushi out of a van.” Say what?! Just when we started to think you were way boring, that happened. (Unfortunately, so did those orange pants…)
'Till next week!
