Democracy in Action (AKA Where to Get the Best Food and Drinks on Election Night)

Election day is almost here! L.A. restaurants are offering a number of delicious ways to spend election day (aside from, you know, voting), and we’ve rounded up the best deals in the city. Pick your prez and await the results while eating and drinking like an American should.

Lexington Social House

Get your democracy on with “Election with Lexington” at Lexington Social House. The “Flag Flight” cocktail special features a red, white, and blue cocktail tasting for $18 and will be offered during election week. Sip on vodka, muddled strawberries, basil leaves; coffee liqueur, tanteo chocolate, and horchata; and reposado tequila, blue curacao, and Serrano chili and sage leaves. After casting your vote, enjoy not having to make another decision, especially when it comes to your drinks.

Post & Beam

Watch the election results roll in in style while feasting on a three-course pre-fixe dinner at Pots & Beam. For $26, you can get patriotic by dining on classic American dishes with a twist—corn griddle cakes with smoked salmon and crème fraiche, slow cooked brisket with buttermilk mashed potatoes, and of course, peach cobbler. Bonus: you’ll also get 50% off select bottles of wine, so you can toast your candidate, or drown your sorrows with another glass.

Jar

Would you rather cheer (or mourn) for your candidate in the privacy of your own home? Jar is offering an election night dinner to-go, created with the ease of home cookin’ in mind. For $63, you get dinner for two, which includes your choice of dishes such as an iceberg wedge with blue cheese dressing, pot roast, and butterscotch pudding. U.S.A.

The Churchill

Every Tuesday, The Churchill offers its bottled wines at 50% off, but this Tuesday they will pair this deal with election night, screening the coverage on their many TV sets. Consider it your civic duty to drink enough for both yourself and Romney, since he won’t be partaking.

Voting has more perks than, say, participating in the democratic process that allows for our personal freedoms—primarily for free food and drinks! Bring your “I Voted” sticker into these joints to get some free swag.

Burger Lounge

Burger Lounge is giving voters a free “½ and ½” combo of onion rings and fries, and the choice of house made BBQ sauce or Ranch Dressing (decisions, decisions) with the purchase of any menu item. It doesn’t get more American than that.

Tortilla Republic

Flash your “I Voted” sticker at Tortilla Republic and receive a complimentary “Viva la Vote” margarita, made with tequila, blueberry syrup, berry purée, and blue curacao. Arriba!

Café del Rey

The creative election cocktails just keep coming—Café del Rey will be hosting happy hour all night during their election results viewing party. For just $6, you can sip on the Barockin’ Bayonet (coconut tequila, blue Curacao, lime), Not-So Radical Romney (bourbon, cranberry, grenadine) or the 270 (Charbay vodka, blue curacao, grenadine, and sprite). With your “I Voted” sticker, you’ll get one of those cocktails for free!
