Brace Yourselves! No More Banh Mi Sandwiches at Spice Table (Also, Bryant Ng Relocating the Place, Opening Second Concept)
This morning, Los Angeles magazine Chef of the Year winner Bryant Ng of the Spice Table announced that he will be relocating his acclaimed Asian restaurant restaurant from its original Little Tokyo location, and is scouting locations for a second restaurant concept, as well.
The move is primarily due to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s plans to place a metro station where The Spice Table is currently located. Yeah, that would do it. But he also cites a plumbing issue that shut down the restaurant last week. The Spice Table is back in business, but unfortunately, the flooding caused irreparable damage, mostly to the equipment essential to baking their Vietnamese baguettes (nooo!). What does that mean? No more lunch service until the move. For the next six-to-12 months at least, you can continue to come for dinner while they look for a new home. As for the new concept, Ng is staying mum, but we’re putting in our vote for a banh mi stand. Anyone?
