The Los Angeles Bon Appetit Grub Crawl is coming up on July 13, 14, and 15. It’s their first ever in our city, and we’re thoroughly impressed with the lineup. Get ready for three nights of food, drink, and up-close interactions with some of the city’s most renowned chefs. Here’s what’s going on:
FRIDAY, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., $79
Cole’s: Visit the bar while you sip on bath tub gin, served straight from an ice sculpture bath tub. And of course don’t miss what is arguably the best French dip sandwich in town.
Umamicatessen: Grab a seat at the communal tables of this newly opened eatery and enjoy an assortment of specialities, including Umami sliders, chef Chris Cosentino's savory snacks from Pig, and sandwiches from Cure. Finish up the meal with tres leches donut holes, Spring Coffee, and cocktails.
Las Perlas: Fresh tamales accompany unique variations on margaritas made with fruits and herbs.
Seven Grand: Mixologists lead a demo of the classic cocktail, the Old Fashioned. Guests can drink as they listen to live music and relax on the private balcony.
SATURDAY, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., music 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., $99
Mozza Scuola di Pizza: Crowd around the exhibition kitchen and learn how Mozza’s pizzas are made in the wood-burning oven. Eat them after, along with wines from Joe Bastianich.
Pour Vous: Sit in the Parisian cocktail lounge and drink Champagne and specialty Belvedere cocktails prepared for the occasion as you snack on oysters.
Street: Try global recipes and cocktails from Susan Feniger’s newest, not-yet-released cookbook in the courtyard of her restaurant.
The Spare Room: The modern-day gaming parlour and cocktail lounge on the mezzanine of the Roosevelt Hotel will have drinks, bowling, and more.
NIGHT + MARKET: Experience Northern Thai BBQ with chef Kris Yenbamroong in the restaurant’s herb garden and back porch while you sip on Mekong Old Fashioneds and Chang Beer Towers.
The Roxy: After all five stops, complete the night with a live concert by the band Vacationer at the Roxy with an open bar. ($29 for this event only.)
SUNDAY, 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., $89
Father’s Office: Chef Sang Yoon is creating an alternate version of his famous Office Burger inspired by the flavors of Central Europe and paired with specially selected beers. Guests will leave with a booze-inspired ice cream sandwich.
Sotto: Eat from a market-driven menu of regionally-inspired Southern Italian dishes and amaro cocktails.
Picca: Ricardo Zarate is serving up some of his favorite Peruvian dinner specials for lunch.
Lukshon: It’s an all-rice meal, with a variety of fried rice dishes and even rice cocktails.
