Margarita For A "Benjamin" At Red O

Rick Bayless’s Melrose Avenue spot Red O is now serving Mexico’s most famous beverage in true livin-it-up style, courtesy of mixologist Steve Calabro. Your wallet—and your head—will feel a lot lighter after nursing one of Red O’s new $100 margaritas. Three types of anejo tequila and two kinds of cognac form the base of the cocktail. The ingredient list reads: Gran Patron Burdelos, Partida Elegante, and Herradura seleccion suprema, Grand Marnier, fresh lime juice, organic agave syrup, lime sorbet ice cubes, Louis XII cognac, fresh-squeezed orange juice and Prunier orange cognac. It’s a cocktail fit for a king—one with deep pockets. Red O offers a more modest rendition for $35 with Patron Gran Platinum, Prunier cognac, lime juice, agave nectar and fruit ice cubes, should you not want to blow all your Christmas money in one place.
