Frugal Find: Crepe Republic

Crepe Republic has health food and sugar-dusted indulgences all wrapped up

As the name implies, Crepe Republic aims to serve its citizens—in this case, the eclectic demographic mix of West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. The Beverly Center-adjacent café offers a range of creative combinations enveloped in supple, superthin pancakes. Hedonists go for the gooey custard with fruit, whipped cream, and Nutella. Healthy types order whole wheat stuffed with fresh vegetables or a buckwheat version with white-meat chicken and pesto, while low-carb devotees pick the shrimp, fish, egg whites, and cheese combo. Free spirit? Improvise from a long list of ingredients, including peanut butter and house-made fruit preserves. We the people: Owners Yana Bakshev-skaya and Leana Avizian had the popular crepe-slinging kiosks on the streets of Moscow in mind when they opened their bright counter-service spot. //    8516 W. 3rd St. , L.A. , 310-652-7772.
