Late breaking Friday news: Reps for MessHall have confirmed that chef Keith Silverton has left the Los Feliz restaurant. Within a week of Jonathan Gold of the L.A. Times calling it a “pie in a jar” kind of place, the chef—who last cooked at Nonna of Italy—has “moved on to other projects.”
The rep claims that Keith was only there to “consult through the opening,” but this is the first we heard of that. The departure comes a few months after bartenders Julian Cox and Josh Goldman walked away from the restaurant just weeks before its grand opening.
Filling the vacant executive chef shoes is Nick Erven who, the rep says, was “hand-picked by Keith for the position.”
No word yet on where Silverton is headed, but we’ll stay tuned.
