It’s In The Bag—P.S. ARTS Designer Sale
When I opened the door to Meredith Kaplan’s big white Holmby Hills pad for the P.S. Arts Bag Lunch the vestibule was a-buzz. Stylish ladies were going from purse to purse to purse, like bees pollinating flowers. The race to get your desired handbag—set up all over the house, at a 20% discount—was on. You could buy it outright if you put your hands on it first, or put your name on a bidding card and risk being outbid at the end of the luncheon. Through the vestibule to the kitchen I ran into Lisa Kudrow walking swiftly towards a John Varvatos, she snagged it. When the desired bag was attained you could sit in the backyard by the pool for a real bag lunch with fancy salads and sandwiches.
Stylist Elizabeth Stewart and E! Fashion Police’s George Kotsiopoulos started this bag luncheon ten years ago and it is held at a different fabu home each go-round. Kaplan’s home was filled with Diors, Guccis, Chanels and Chloes (and others—over 200 of them). Some scoop on Kaplan, she is set to open a boutique called Gratus in Bev Hills. When all the bidding was done 100% of the proceeds (which totaled over $150,000) was raised by attendees like Rachel Bilson and Kristin Davis. I snagged a Tous bag with a bear stitched on it. Makes me smile.
