The décor of Brent Bolthouse's new lounge at Wilshire and Ocean is described as Baja Cali. Ok. I'd buy that. White walls, the skeletal horned head of some creature on the wall of the poolroom and oodles of rustic chandelier’s and candles spread about. The opening party, in my mind, was like hanging at my much nicer pad and not having to clean up afterwards. Although I don't think my place would have a big lit sign that says AMOR next to the men's room. Really cute people were playing ping-pong when I walked into the joint and girls in blue striped shirts was serving strong drinks. I had a beverage that tasted like bacon. Everything tastes like bacon these days. The air smelled like candles. The kind that go for $50. Bolthouse was there in his bow-tie, but everyone else was a bit more casual. I stood most of the night (far too many reserved signs), wandered and sampled the grub which hails from farther down the hotel from Fig Restaurant and Chef Ray Garcia. KCRW co-hosted so there was a bearded JasonBentley (while I'm kvetching - far too many beards of unusual size for my taste too – see last post) and Donovan performed later in the evening. It was hard to corral everyone in the indoor/outdoor space so while the 60's legend performed folks just kept doing their thing. Who else did I spy? Ryan Kwanten, Kellan Lutz, Melody Thornton and Francesca Eastwood. The place is cool. Expensive yet casual like the vanille-tabac candles they were burning. Give it a try one night. The Bungalow open - Tuesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
