Theatre West

The 50th Anniversary of the non-profit arts org prompts a party before the party

All the Bridges family (sans Jeff) popped by the Montages Residences in Bev Hills for cocktails and pocket-sized beef Wellingtons as Theatre West kicked off its 50th anniversary. This was actually the party before the party as the do-gooder arts organization (for the uninitiated, Theatre West is an artistic cooperative—workshops, performances, children’s theatre, etc.) is having it’s big gala on September 13th. The bash was held in one of the Montage's luxe residences, which was one of three still available if you have a couple million to throw around. It was also the occasion for Lucinda Bridges to unveil the first ever Betty Garrett Lifetime Achievement Award (named after the late actress), which she is creating for ... her brother Beau. The Bridges family have been involved with the theatre for years and it is where Beau got his start, “Betty helped me get into Theatre West. She was also godmother to Jeff but she liked me better.” The award his sis is constructing is actually going to be a vase because as Lucinda said, “You can actually use this, trophies always end up in the garage and Betty always liked flowers.” This gives me a thought: the Oscar teapot.
