An Unforgettable Evening

Rihanna gets the fancy folk dancing on the tables at this EIF’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund shindig

Last year Grammy Award winner Rihanna had to bail on the Entertainment Industry Foundation's Women's Cancer Research Fund event (dubbed "An Unforgettable Evening" ages ago) when she got ill. Cee Lo Green gamely stepped in for her and for the cause, performing at the last minute. This year Rihanna showed up and put on a fantastic show at the Beverly Hilton - complete with oodles of energy, back up dancers and tight choreography. She put so much into the show and was in such good voice that it got the gals in the evening gowns shimmying on the tables. "I want to thank you for inviting me here a year ago, but I got really sick, so I thought I'd make it up to you this year!" she yelled over the applause. $2 mil was raised during the course of the evening where cancer survivor/singer Sheryl Crow and Glamour Editor-in-chief Cindi Leive were honored. Leive sparkled in a wee gold dress dress saying to the board of the Women's Cancer Research Fund, "Ladies, I'd bow down before you were I not wearing such a tight skirt." Crow then got up to accept her award (I remember her wearing a similar black and white striped dress years ago to this same fundraiser. She was dating biker Lance Armstrong at the time – I digress). Crow accepted her award saying, "Cancer is a beast and I for one am sick of it. Cancer changed the course of my life...it woke me up." She went on to put out good thoughts to a friend who was currently battling the disease, "I think of my friend Adam in the Beastie Boys who is either on his third or fourth round of treatment." Sadly, Adam Yauch (who she is referring to) lost his battle with cancer last week.
