Slide Show: The Nautica Oceana Beach House Party

Beaches, Celebrity 2 Comments

“You’re more likely to get struck by lightning than be attacked by a shark,” actor Austin Nichols said at Oceana’s Beach House party the other night. “You’re more likely to be killed by a jellyfish. My favorite is, you’re more likely to be killed by a vending machine than killed by a shark!” Nichols hosted the ocean do-gooder bash (the org protects the sea and all the fine fish in it) with Miranda Cosgrove.

The Marion Davies Guest House, a white 1920s Georgian formerly built for William Randolph Hearst’s mistress/silent film star Marion Davies (and now part of the Annenberg Beach House), was filled top to bottom with partying notables like Ted Danson (Oceana Board Member) Drake Bell (he performed), Jenna Ushkowitz, Angela Kinsey, Sam Trammell (long-time supporter), and Chloe Bennett (Nichol’s new girlfriend). Connor Cruise (pops is Tom) deejayed a late set—good stuff—smiling amiably at folks who waved to him behind his gear.

Nautica teamed up with the org again this year, giving out great beach totes and towels as guests left (all of whom were asked not to crash the neighboring wedding). The Bumbys (masked performance artists who tap out fashion-centric notes on typewriters) were on hand as well, offering guests “A Fair and Honest Appraisal of Your Appearance.” Fun idea. I, however, slipped past them into the night—and I didn’t crash the wedding.
