Quick Take: Life at the Marmont By Raymond Sarlot and Fred E. Basten
Juicy tales of the celebrities who collided in the famed hotel’s hallways
Published in 1987, the reissue (Penguin Books, 368 pages, $16) comes in time for Aaron Sorkin’s mini-series based on the Chateau Marmont. Since opening in 1929, the hotel has been home to everyone from Grace Kelly to John Belushi. Raymond Sarlot, who bought the joint in 1975, tells of the celebrities who collided in its hallways. The accounts are long on gossip but provide an informative homage to Hollywood.
