La Costa Perdida, the first album in nine years from mid-1980s college radio darlings Camper Van Beethoven, begins and ends with songs that evoke a dreamy trip along Highway 1 (the “lost coast” of the title). In between there are wacky guitar-driven odes as well as winsome and accessible alt-country tunes. And when David Lowery’s sultry voice sings about “Northern California Girls,” they get the wistful anthem they deserve. Out tomorrow. (429 Records, $13)
