This week's must-see L.A. shows include jazz, more jazz, funk, and Jake Bugg.

TUESDAY: Jazz fusion percussionist Dave Weckl is best known as a veteran of Chick Corea’s touring band, but he stands on his own as one of the great drummers of the genre. In November, Weckl collaborated with Jay Oliver, who has teamed with him on his earlier solo records, for the release of Convergence!, their first work together in 12 years.
Catalina Bar & Grill: 6725 Sunset Blvd., Hollywood, Tix: $22.

WEDNESDAY: If you're a fan of jazz drummers, this is your week because after Dave Weckl comes Lenny White. Considered a jazz fusion pioneer, Lenny played on Miles Davis’ iconic record Bitches Brew and has worked with a slew of greats in both the jazz and hip hop worlds. Currently, he's working on an opera. Expect a night of collaborators to show up and support Lenny’s live stage performances
Catalina Bar & Grill: 6725 Sunset Blvd., Hollywood. Tix: $25.

THURSDAY: Three great funk bands will perform as part of Funkfest. Zapp dominated the '80s funk scene with the electro talkbox tracks trademarked by late founding member Roger Troutman. (You couldn't escape L.A. without hearing Zapp.) The riffs have been sampled by numerous rappers who are keeping Zapp's sound as vibrant as it was three decades ago. Lakeside, best known for its 1980 hit "Fantastic Voyage," gets the party going, and L.A.’s own Rose Royce will perform hits like "Car Wash," "I’m Going Down," "Love Don’t Live Here Anymore," and "Wishing On A Star."
San Manuel Resort & Casino: 777 San Manuel Blvd., Highland. Tix: $25-$45.

FRIDAY: British teen phenom Jake Bugg returns to L.A. in support of his sophomore album, Shangri La, which was released last November. Recorded in Malibu and Memphis’s famed Sun Studios with producer Rick Rubin, the record showcases the 19-year-old's abilities as songwriter and guitarist, which already has being labeled the Voice of a Generation.
The Wiltern Theater: 3790 Wilshire Blvd., Mid Wilshire. Tix: $34.
