The holidays are all about enjoying time-honored classics like A Christmas Carol and The Nutcracker. Here's a list of the most popular stage performances and holiday movie screenings around L.A. 

The Nutcracker with Gustavo Dudamel
As an amuse-bouche in preparation for the upcoming TchaikovskyFest, Walt Disney Concert Hall is staging a performance of the Russian composer’s classic, The Nutcracker, featuring Music Director Gustavo Dudamel as well as the L.A. Children’s Chorus. More information.

The Long Beach Ballet presents: The Nutcracker
Enjoy the 31st anniversary performance of Tchaikovsky’s ballet at the Long Beach Terrace Theater. More information.

Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker
The world famous Moscow Ballet will be performing The Nutcracker for one night only at the Wiltern Theatre. More information.

The Hot Chocolate Nutcracker
Debbie Allen’s popular seasonal tribute returns with its special narrators: three mice by the names of Harvey, Schmink, and Buckey. Visit remote locales like Egypt, Russia, and Candy Cane Lane. The original score is by Mariah Carey and Arturo Sandoval, among others. More information.

South Bay Ballet presents: The Nutcracker
The Torrance ballet school is known for training its students as a professional company. Many dancers have gone on to perform with world-renowned troupes. Check out the South Bay Ballet’s take on Tchaikovsky’s classic. More information.

A Christmas Carol

Second City presents A Christmas Carol: Twist Your Dickens!
The famous Second City comedy institution is back with another thigh-slapping rendition of Dickens’s classic tale. The show promises new jokes, more interaction with the audience, and hearty laughs. More information.

South Coast Repertory presents: A Christmas Carol
This performance promises to bring nineteenth-century London back to life as Hal Landon Jr. returns in the role of Ebeneezer Scrooge, everyone’s favorite old curmudgeon. More information.
