    They do a different theme each year, but it’s always elaborate and spooky. In the past, they’ve done a revolving tunnel inspired by the Wizard of Oz tornado and underground tunnels. This year, the theme is "The Haunted Wilsley Manor.” 907 N. California St., Burbank. More information

    THE HAUNTED DIARY
    The theme at this private haunted house is “Dark Carnival” and the organizers promise a terrifying haunted maze for grown ups and interactive Halloween fun for kids in front of the house. 603 N. Las Palmas Ave. More information

    THE HAUNT WITH NO NAME
    Here’s a family that has been transforming their private yard into a haunted landscape -- and inviting visitors to check it out -- every year since 1991. 19351 Hatteras Street, Tarzana. More information

    HOUSE AT HAUNTED HILL
    Don’t try to enter the house. You watch from the street as the hillside comes to life for an elaborate, 10-minute show that takes place a few times each hour. There’s narration, spooky music and sound effects. The scariest thing may be finding parking. The street is closed to vehicles, so it’s a good idea to carpool and hike in. 4400 Saltillo St., Woodland Hills. More information

    THE FOREST OF MIRRORS
    Come in costume to this backyard haunt billed as “the world's strangest yard.” As the name implies, there are plenty of mirrors (creating the effect of a graveyard that never ends), but there are also skulls, ancient tombstones, ominous sounds, strange beings and more. 6124 Lederer Ave., Woodland Hills.     HOUSE OF RESTLESS SPIRITS
    House of Restless Spirits was once inhabited by a sailor who tragically lost his family. He went out to sea, never to be seen again. Now his restless spirit roams this private haunted house in Santa Monica. 1008 Euclid St., Santa Monica. More information
