Bask in the liberty of a live music extravaganza, a food truck bonanza, and poetry slam stanzas at Downtown L.A.'s Grand Park this 4th of July. The 12-acre urban oasis stretching from the Music Center to City Hall is hosting its first-ever Fourth of July Block Party. Angelenos are invited to grab a patch of green, indulge in food-truck gluttony (or DIY picnicking), and groove to a day of music and poetry performances including Los Angeles-based artists Ethio Cali and Jungle Fire. Hosted by Anthony Valadez of KCRW, the block party begins at 2 p.m. and will continue past sundown, when a light show that combines projections and pyrotechnics ends the night with a bang.
