Turn Your Bookworm Into a Tech Monkey

The Digital Bookmobile is a-comin down the street

You got grandma hooked on the Song of Fire and Ice series. You even got her a Kinler because she loves the large type. What happens when she’s done tearing through Game of Thrones? Now, she has no clue how to download the quickie electronic version of A Clash of Kings—and let's get real, neither do you.

The Digital Bookmobile wants to help. A throwback to the not-so-old timey book wagons that used to bring print volumes to rural and inner-city areas, this uber-wired 74-foot long trailer comes equipped with HD screens, PC workstations, and video tutorials to introduce patrons to all of the tomes they can get for free.

Sample e-readers and tablets allow vistors to test-drive compatible devices. They can browse eBooks, audiobooks, and music without ever worrying about a late fee—digital checkouts automatically return themselves upon their due date. (No more glares from the librarian or guiltily fishing out your wallet at checkout time!)

Before heading to Arizona and Las Vegas, the reading wagon (which has already made stops in Cerritos, Anaheim, and Camarillo) wraps up the California leg of its tour tomorrow in Palos Verdes. For a full schedule, click here.
