Music Video Monday: Get Well Soon - "Roland, I Feel You"
"Roland, I Feel You" is hands-down one of the best music videos we have seen in ages. The gorgeous and mind-blowingly elaborate 7:12 clip by German band Get Well Soon, the nom de musique of 29-year-old Konstantin Gropper, is more like a short film than a traditional video.
Directed by Philipp Kaessbohrer, the epic video is Quentin Tarantino redux, paying homage to spaghetti Westerns, '70's exploitation flicks, cartoonish violence, and women with eyepatches. Throw in a hefty--one might even say heroic--dose of Alejandro Jodorowsky, a dash of Kenneth Anger, and a massive, seven-headed hydra, and the result is a stunning, surreal movie mashup. (How many Euros did this thing cost?!) Though the video's images have little direct correlation with the song's lyrics--an ode to the action flicks of director Roland Emmerich -- that doesn't matter. For 2012, this is the music video to beat.
Get Well Soon's album, The Scarlet Beast O'Seven Heads (City Slang), came out earlier this month in the United States.
