Let's face it, Dirty Projectors are sort of hateable. The Pitchfork-approved band seems to embody every possible cliche about pale, shaggy, skinny, white people playing music in Brooklyn. Except for one. Their music sort of rocks. Sometimes atonal and sometimes harmonious, sometimes churning and sometimes flowing, their songs are uncommon and unexpected. And thank god there's one band not mining the "sweeping chorale" sound.
Their new video for "Offspring Are Blank" finds images of the band playing in a green mountain field juxtaposed with shots of singer David Longstreth wading through a garbage dump. Something about it makes us think that Aphex Twin would be proud.
