On August 21 the Petersen Automotive Museum will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Gruppo Bertone, the Italian design firm that specializes in styling cars that, among other things, make people want to sleep with you. Take one of its greatest—and most famous—creations: the Lamborghini Countach. With its sleek, angular body, angel wing-shaped doors, and oversize engine, this revving symbol of seduction became an ’80s sensation the moment it screeched onscreen alongside Burt Reynolds in Cannonball Run. The Lambo has since remained a memorable Hollywood costar in flicks such as Rain Man, Gone in Sixty Seconds, and The Dark Knight. May the wheels keep on turning.
