We’re taking a lunch break on Thursday, deadlines be damned. Here’s why: The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra has installed easy-to-spot pianos in thirty public spaces across the city and at noon tomorrow, pianists will play Bach’s preludes from The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1 simultaneously at each one.
The event, titled “Luke Jerram’s Play Me, I’m Yours” was organized in celebration of music director Jeffrey’s Kahane’s 15th anniversary with LACO, and it sounds like one hell of a birthday party—not to mention a creative way to share classical music with a large, broad audience. The public is welcome to sit down and play the pianos before and after the scheduled presentation.
Lucky for us, one of LACO’s pianos is located right downstairs outside our building’s lobby. If you don’t also happen to work at 5900 Wilshire Blvd.. click here to see where else to catch the show.
