PST Review: The Experimental Impulse

Show: The Experimental Impulse
Location: California Institute of the Arts/ REDCAT
What to expect: The Experimental Impulse exhibition is located in the lobby, giving it a casual and relaxed atmosphere. Inventions and new beginnings is the overall focus, with the exhibition exploring the vital role of experimentation that happened in Los Angeles as the city emerged as an artistic center. The importance of art magazines and publications, video, and new technologies come to light. The exhibition consists of pictures, old telephones, typewriters, and newspaper and magazine clippings. Several computers provide access to additional information, interviews, and historical essays. The walls and tables are covered with images of buildings, political protests, and important people.
And while you’re there…: Stop in to REDCAT’s coffee shop then take a walk around the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
