Film Independent announced today that Seth Rogen (Knocked Up, Pineapple Express) will be the host of the 2012 Spirit Awards. Joel McHale was cute as last year’s host—the In Memoriam bit where they predicted which celebs wouldn’t make it to 2012 is actually still making me laugh (Mark Ruffalo was to be killed for being too good-looking, etc). The awards are held in a tent on Santa Monica Beach the day before the Oscars, which will be on Feb. 25th this year. I’m crossing my fingers it won’t be so windy this go-round. I see Woody Harrelson is up for an award for his role in Rampart and Michelle Williams has been nominated for My Week With Marilyn. Ryan Gosling is too (for Drive) and The Artist is up for a bunch of hardware. Rogen is definitely guffaw-worthy. Check out this funny interview: Seth Rogen’s LA Story
